The Lake Como area covers miles and miles of beautiful nature and scenic panoramas. The three main cities, Como, Bellagio and Lecco and their popular surrounding towns and villages like Cernobbio, Laglio, Nesso, Lenno, Menaggio, Gravedona, Limonta, Mandello del Lario, Varenna, Bellano, and Coilico offer a multitude of tourist attractions, restaurants, shopping and sport.
They city of Como is set on Lake Como the third largest lake in Italy, after Lake Garda and Lake Maggiore. It is ‘Y’ shape with the northern branch beginning in Colico and the towns of Como and Lecco create the start for the other two branches, Bellagio sits in the Y point looking out to the lake and the Swiss Alps. There are so many beautiful places to visit near Como.
Bellagio, known as “the pearl of Lario” is a wonderful little city set in the hills at the Y point of Lake Como. It is quaint, romantic and picturesque. For us it is a great day trip from Lecco and about a 35 minutes drive. Bellagio is great for shopping for locally produced silk, antiques and original craftwork. Don’t miss visiting Villa Serbelloni or Vila Melzi. You must try the local speciality Risotto al Pesce di Persico (Italian rice and Perch).
Lecco is set at the base of the Alps surrounded by nature. The city center offers museums, shopping, restaurants and cafes. You can find cultural events, sport and more… Read more about
