Lake Como Events in July 2026: Music, Markets, Festivals and Summer Evenings

July is when Lake Como fully settles into its summer rhythm. The days are warm, the lake becomes part of daily life, and the evenings open into music, outdoor dining, local markets, villa concerts and festivals in the piazzas.

It is a livelier month than June, with more visitors and a fuller calendar, but it is also one of the most atmospheric times to experience the lake after sunset. Once the heat of the day softens, towns such as Como, Lecco, Bellagio, Varenna, Menaggio and Colico take on a different character, more relaxed, more social and beautifully suited to slow summer evenings.

This guide highlights events taking place around Lake Como Events in July 2026, from the main lake towns to smaller villages where local sagre and community festivals offer a more authentic glimpse of summer life on the lake.

Please note: event dates, times and programmes can change, especially for outdoor events. Always check official local tourism pages before planning your evening.

July 2026 Events in Como and Cernobbio

Como is one of the best places to begin July on the lake, especially for travellers who enjoy culture in the evening after a day of sightseeing. The Festival Como Cittร  della Musica 2026 runs from June 30 to July 12, with performances in the Arena of the Teatro Sociale and other locations around the city.

This nineteenth edition takes the theme La luce langue, drawn from Verdiโ€™s opera Macbeth, and brings music, opera and dance into the historic centre, close to the Duomo and the Teatro Sociale. The festival opens with performances of Macbeth on July 2, 4 and 6, produced with the involvement of both professional artists and local music enthusiasts. Concerts, dance performances and street events continue throughout the city during the festival period.

It is a particularly elegant way to experience Como in July. Spend the late afternoon walking through the old town, stop for an aperitivo near Piazza Cavour or along the lakeside, then continue to a performance as the city cools into evening.

Nearby Cernobbio offers a more polished lakeside mood, with villa hotels, refined dining and seasonal cultural events. It is always worth checking Villa dโ€™Este, Villa Erba and the Cernobbio tourism listings for concerts, garden events, exhibitions and special dinners throughout the summer.

July 2026 Events in Lecco

Lecco Jazz Festival: On Wednsday July 8, 2026 – Jowee Omicil at Teatro della Societร  Lecco

Lecco has one of the strongest July calendars on the eastern branch of Lake Como. The cityโ€™s Estate a Lecco 2026 program includes the Lecco Film Fest, taking place from July 2 to 5.

Now in its seventh edition, the festival brings cinema, cultural conversations and evening screenings to the city under the theme Con tutte le sue creature. Promoted by Confindustria Lecco e Sondrio and organised by the Fondazione Ente dello Spettacolo, the programme includes talks, masterclasses, meetings with directors and the Premio Lucia award, which recognises distinguished contributions to cinema by women.

The same summer programme also includes Shopping di Sera on July 2, when shops remain open in the evening. It is a simple but very Italian way to enjoy the city after the heat of the day: a lakeside walk, a little shopping, an aperitivo, then dinner in the centre.

Jazz also has a strong place in Leccoโ€™s July calendar. The Lecco Jazz Festival 2026 takes place from July 8 to 11, with concerts at the Teatro della Societร  and free Concerti Diffusi in other city locations. Now in its eleventh edition, the festival brings international artists and Italian musicians to Lecco for four days of jazz, soul, fusion and improvisation. The 2026 programme includes evening performances by Jowee Omicil, Judith Hill, Billy Cobham and Roberto Gatto, alongside earlier free concerts in venues such as the Auditorium Casa dellโ€™Economia and Parco di Villa Gomes. For visitors, it is one of the best ways to enjoy Lecco after dark: music, a lakeside walk and the cityโ€™s quietly atmospheric summer mood.

The July calendar in Lecco combines culture with everyday city life. Expect lakefront walks, evening markets, concerts, exhibitions and open-air events. One useful date to note is Saturday, July 11, when the cityโ€™s Mercato in Centro brings a traditional market into the city centre from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., with around 70 stalls extending into areas including Piazza Affari.

The Hokusai exhibition, Il segreto dellโ€™Onda che attraversa lโ€™Europa, continues at Palazzo delle Paure in Piazza XX Settembre through September 27, 2026. The show presents 75 works, including 43 by Hokusai himself, and explores the geometric and compositional secrets behind his influence on Western art. It is a strong cultural option for the hotter part of the day.

For one of Leccoโ€™s most memorable summer views, the Campanile di San Nicolรฒ, affectionately known as Il Matitone, opens for special Friday evening climbs from June to September. The guided visit takes you up the bell towerโ€™s historic steps to one of the most panoramic viewpoints on the eastern branch of Lake Como, with sweeping views over the lake, the city rooftops, the Adda River and the surrounding mountains. It is a wonderful way to experience Lecco at sunset, when the light softens and the cityโ€™s relationship with the water and mountains becomes especially clear. Booking is recommended through campaniledilecco.it.

July 2026 Events in Bellagio

Bellagio in July is busy, beautiful and very much in season. The town is at its most photogenic in the long evening light, when day visitors begin to leave and the lakefront becomes more relaxed.

The Festival di Bellagio e del Lago di Como is one of the key summer cultural events on the lake. Founded in 2011 and now in its fifteenth edition, the festival brings classical music to Bellagio and other lake towns, creating a circuit of concerts in churches, villas and lakeside venues performed by the Orchestra di Bellagio e del Lago di Como.

July 2026 dates confirmed so far include concerts on July 12 in Oliveto Lario, July 17 and 18 in Bellagio, and July 25 at the Rockefeller Foundation in Bellagio. Many concerts are free, though it is best to check the official festival website as the programme is updated progressively.

For visitors staying in Bellagio, July is also ideal for combining evening events with daytime visits to Villa Melzi, Varenna, Menaggio or Tremezzina by ferry. The central lake is at its most connected in summer, but ferry queues can be long, so plan earlier crossings whenever possible.

July 2026 Events in Varenna

Varenna has a more intimate summer atmosphere than Como or Bellagio, and that is exactly its charm. July events here often include music in Piazza San Giorgio, small concerts, exhibitions and cultural evenings that pair beautifully with dinner by the water or a walk along the Passeggiata degli Innamorati.

Varenna Turismo office maintains a local calendar of events and activities, with concerts, exhibitions and recreational events organised by the municipality and local partners. In July, the tourism office is also useful for confirming evening events in person once you arrive.

Because Varenna is compact, it works particularly well for visitors who prefer an easy evening. Arrive by ferry, visit Villa Monastero or wander through the village lanes, have dinner by the lake, then stay for a concert or local event before returning to Bellagio or Menaggio.

July 2026 Events in Menaggio

Menaggio
Menaggio Piazza Garibaldi / Mennagio Tourism

Menaggio is one of the most pleasant towns for July evenings on Lake Como. It has a relaxed, sociable atmosphere, with a broad lakeside promenade, outdoor cafรฉs and a summer calendar that includes markets, music and village celebrations.

The Friday evening craft market continues in July along Viale Benedetto Castelli, the lakeshore promenade, from 5 p.m. throughout the summer season. It is easy to enjoy before or after dinner, especially if you are staying in the central lake area.

The festival season also brings classical music to Menaggio. On Friday, July 31 at 8:45 p.m., the Orchestra di Bellagio e del Lago di Como performs at the Church of San Lorenzo e Santโ€™Agnese as part of the Festival di Bellagio e del Lago di Como. Entry is free.

Menaggio is a good base for visitors who want access to both the western shore and the central lake. From here, you can easily reach Bellagio and Varenna by ferry, while also exploring villages above town such as Croce, where local festivals often feel more personal and less tourist-facing.

July 2026 Events in Tremezzina and Villa Carlotta

Tremezzina is one of the most rewarding areas of Lake Como in July, especially for travellers who appreciate villas, gardens and refined cultural events. Villa Carlotta has a particularly strong July program, mixing exhibitions, workshops and concerts in one of the lakeโ€™s most beautiful settings.

The villaโ€™s current exhibition, Artisti, telai e trame: da Leonardo a Maria Lai, explores the tradition of textile art connected to the Canclini collection and runs through December 2026. Music is also part of the July calendar, including the concert Dances by Duo Degas, for piano four hands, on July 24 as part of the LakeComo Music Festival.

Tremezzina is also a key venue for the LacMus International Music Festival, which runs from July 6 to 19, 2026. The festival brings world-class classical musicians to extraordinary locations including Villa Carlotta, Villa del Balbianello, Isola Comacina and the Sanctuary of Beata Vergine del Soccorso in Ossuccio.

Co-founded by pianist Louis Lortie and conductor Paolo Bressan, LacMus is one of the most distinguished classical music festivals in Italy. Some events are free with reservation, while others are ticketed. Check the official LacMus programme for full details and tickets.

A visit to Villa Carlotta in July works best in the morning or late afternoon. The gardens can be very hot at midday, but the combination of botanical paths, museum rooms and lake views makes it one of the most complete cultural experiences in the central lake area.

July 2026 Events in Colico and the Upper Lake

Musica sullโ€™Acqua Festival / Lake Como Tourism

The upper lake has a different feeling in July: wider skies, sportier energy and a stronger local rhythm. Colico, Domaso, Gravedona and Dongo are ideal for visitors who want a less polished and more outdoorsy version of Lake Como.

One of the main cultural events in this area is the Musica sullโ€™Acqua Festival, now in its 22nd edition and running from July 3 to 26 across Colico, Como, Gravedona and Pianello del Lario.

The 2026 theme is Civiltร , or Civilisation. The programme includes 17 events, from concerts and musical walks to talks and interactive activities, with internationally acclaimed artists such as Mario Brunello, Sara Mingardo and the Kandinsky Quartet. The festival opens on July 3 at the Abbey of Piona and closes on July 26 at the Lake Arena, a floating theatre in Piona Bay, with a performance of Beethovenโ€™s Symphony No. 9.

The North Lake Como events calendar is also useful for checking music, food and community events across Colico, Gravedona ed Uniti and Dongo. Once in the area, keep an eye on local posters, Pro Loco pages and tourist offices. In July, some of the best evenings are the ones you discover from a handwritten sign outside a bar or a poster at the ferry dock.

July 2026 Events in Bellano, Dervio and the Eastern Shore Villages

Bellano continues to be one of the most interesting smaller towns on the eastern shore, with its dramatic Orrido, historic lanes and a cultural calendar that has grown in recent years.

The exhibition DEVOTA. Arte e sacro, territorio e comunitร  runs from May 16 to September 13, 2026, across several religious and cultural sites, including the Museo Giancarlo Vitali and churches in the area.

Dervio is especially active in summer thanks to its sailing, beaches and family-friendly lakefront. July and August often bring sports activities, evening events and local festivals. The North Lake Como calendar is useful for checking events in Dervio, Bellano, Colico and nearby villages as the month approaches.

This side of the lake is excellent for travellers who want a more local experience than the central-lake postcard towns. You can still enjoy beautiful views, but with easier access to trains, beaches and smaller village gatherings.

July 2026 Events in Mandello del Lario

Mandello del Lario / Photo C. Abernethy

Mandello del Lario sits between Lecco and Varenna and is known internationally for Moto Guzzi. In summer, however, it also has a pleasant lakeside atmosphere and a local calendar worth watching.

July often brings music, sports and village evenings along the lakefront. The Festival di Bellagio e del Lago di Como also passes through Mandello, with a concert scheduled for Wednesday, July 15 at 8:45 p.m. at Villa Lario.

The Mandello del Lario tourism office periodically publishes events on their events page, check the updates here: https://www.comune.mandello.lc.it/it-it/argomenti/turismo

Because Mandello is on the train line between Milan, Lecco and Varenna, it is a practical stop for travellers staying on the eastern branch. It is less crowded than Bellagio or Varenna, and its events often feel more local, especially in the evening when families gather along the lake.

July 2026 Village Sagre to Look For in July on Lake Como

July is a good month for village sagre around Lake Como. These informal food and community festivals are usually organised by local associations, parishes, sports clubs or Pro Loco groups.

Expect long tables, grilled meats, polenta, pizzoccheri, lake fish, local wine, live music and plenty of families. These are not always events created for tourists, which is exactly why they are worth seeking out. They offer a glimpse of Lake Como as a lived-in place, not only a scenic destination.

In the upper lake area, check Colico, Domaso, Gravedona, Dongo and Dervio for food festivals and music evenings. On the eastern branch, Bellano, Mandello and smaller villages above the lake often host parish festivals and summer evenings. Around Menaggio and Tremezzina, look for events in hillside villages as well as lakeside towns.

July 2026 Events Markets and Summer Evenings on Lake Como

July is also an excellent month for markets. Menaggioโ€™s Friday evening craft market along the lakeshore promenade is one of the easiest for visitors to enjoy, running from 5 p.m. The upper lake towns also have reliable weekly markets, including Colico on Fridays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Gravedona on alternate Wednesdays and Dongo on alternate Thursdays.

You can check details on the North Lake Como weekly markets page.

For travellers, markets are not just about shopping. They are a way to understand the rhythm of the town. Go early for food markets, or later in the day for evening craft stalls, music and aperitivo.

Planning Tips for July Events on Lake Como

July is the lake at full volume: more people, more music, more heat and more movement. Yet in the right moment, at a villa concert, a lakeside market or a village sagra, it can still feel wonderfully intimate. That is the pleasure of Lake Como in midsummer.

  • Book restaurants in advance. July is high season, especially in Como, Bellagio, Varenna, Menaggio and Tremezzina.
  • Check ferry times before planning an evening event. Ferries are scenic and practical, but evening return options may be limited. Always confirm schedules on Navigazione Laghi.
  • Do not rely on taxis late at night. Taxis can be difficult to find in smaller towns, particularly after concerts, festivals or dinners.
  • Use trains for Como and Lecco. From Milan, train connections are often the easiest way to reach both cities for a day trip or evening event.
  • Plan ferry crossings early for Bellagio, Varenna and Menaggio. The central lake is well connected in summer, but queues can be long at peak times.
  • Confirm return transport before attending events in smaller villages. Some local festivals and villa concerts may finish after regular public transport has slowed down.
  • Dress casual-elegant for concerts in villas, churches and formal venues. Lake Como is relaxed in summer, but cultural venues still call for a polished, respectful look.(no shorts, bare backs or flip flops.)
  • Bring water, comfortable shoes and a light layer. Days can be hot, while evenings by the lake or in the hills may feel cooler.
  • Check official websites before you go. Outdoor events, markets and village festivals can change because of weather or local scheduling.

July is high season, so plan more carefully than you would in June. Book restaurants in advance, check ferry timetables before committing to evening events, and do not assume you will easily find a taxi late at night.

For Como and Lecco, trains from Milan are often the easiest way to arrive. For Bellagio, Varenna and Menaggio, ferries are both scenic and practical, but queues can be long at peak times. If you are attending an evening event in a smaller town, confirm your return options before you go.

For outdoor events, bring water, comfortable shoes and a light layer for late evening by the lake. For concerts in churches, villas or formal venues, dress neatly. Lake Como is relaxed in summer, but it is rarely careless.
