Vintage Motorcycles
Mandello del Lario is home to Moto Guzzi the oldest European manufacturer of motorcycle production, established in 1921. Every year since 2001 Mandello del Lario hosts The  GMG (Giornata Mondiale Guzzi ; Worldwide Guzzi Day) where Guzzi owners and collectors come to show off their both new and vintage motorcycles.

A bit further up the lake in Mandello you will find the Motoguzzi motorcycle manufacturing plant and museum where you can see the most complete collection of the world famous vintage bikes. Entrance Free. Guided tours (in Italian) Mon – Fri afternoons 15:00 – 16:00; Sat by reservation (min. 10-15 people). It is best to phone in advance.

Viscontea Tower

The tower was once an integral part of the city’s defense. Once situated on the south-west corner of the walled city it was the focal point of the city entrance at the time. Built early XIV century for Azzone Visconti, was at one point transitory lodging for Spanish soldiers and is said to have also served as a prison. Today it hosts a contemporary art gallery featuring both local and international artists.
